How to pray

As a child of God, our primary way of communicating with Him is through prayer. Mornings are the best times to start a prayer routine.

Sitting at your table with a prayer note, Bible and a hot beverage is life-changing.

This is best done alone and at the same spot each day. Create a spot where there can be no distraction or intrusion.

You can follow the ACTS method of prayer

Adoration - express your heartfelt love for God for who He is; your Creator. Appreciate who He is. Look up the dictionary for words that can truly express what you feel for Him

Confession - openly ask for forgiveness for any known wrong you have committed. Lay that burden down once and for all. Start taking notes for how to guard yourself against going down that way anymore

Thanksgiving - Keep a list of things you are thankful for; an unexpected windfall, kindness from a stranger, peace, calm, serenity, anything that fills your heart with joy

Supplication - Place ALL your requests small or great at His feet; make it known unabashedly because He is the only one who cares for you and will answer all of them in His time

You can use a small prayer book or you could download a prayer app like Prayer Mate.

Prayer is the strongest barrier to our lives. It keeps us safe. It gives us Godly power over every situation. A prayerless life is a careless life. We have to pray for our own well being and for those whom God has given us. Prayer is a divine responsibility of a child of God.

As you pray, write down anything that God talks to you through His still small voice or through His word or through a sudden thought or insight. That is an important instruction coming from God. Align your decisions based on His input. This immediate obedience will attract God to speak about more things to you. This connection is vital. A life adjusted and aligned according to His voice is like a house built on a rock; it cannot be shaken by any tempest or storm. Shalom.
